PROBLEM :
Creators loved the idea of AI generated music but struggled to steer Amper toward the sound they wanted. The original flow required guessing at settings, waiting through long render times, and hoping the result matched their video, so many users reverted to traditional stock music sites that felt faster thanks to instant playback, even though tracks were not editable.
On stock music sites, you can preview instantly, but you can’t really edit.
In our AI platform, you can edit, but you have to wait for each track to generate before you can hear it.
SOLUTION :
I flipped the experience from “compose from scratch” to “AI enabled stock.” We introduced project templates and a familiar stock style browser where users could instantly preview tracks for their use case, then apply Amper’s AI only when needed to edit structure, mood, or timing to fit their video. This gave them the speed and familiarity of stock with the flexibility of generative music.
BETA : The speed of stock music, with AI-powered editing.
GA : Better search and discovery, refined UI
IMPACT :
The new “editable stock” model made Amper feel dramatically faster and easier to control, leading to more exports, higher repeat usage, and stronger retention as we shifted toward a subscription business.
